A frequent question for cruise passengers wishing to purchase a pre- or post-cruise night through Priceline is "which zone should I select?" Hopefully this will give you a bit of
guidance.
If you find this
information useful, I hope you will place your bids through http://cruisediva.com/bid.htm.
Seattle Hotels
Seattle has several zones which are appropriate for cruise passengers. The closest zone to the
two docks which are used is the Downtown Seattle zone. There are a number
of transportation options from the Airport to this zone, such as Grayline, Super
Shuttle, or even the public bus. This is the zone
which includes the Pike's Place Market and other interesting attractions.
If
you arrive late the day before your cruise, or have an early flight the day
after your cruise, you might consider the Sea-Tac (Seattle Tacoma) Airport
zone. There are a number of attractive options in this zone at value
rates.
For those who will be driving to the port, you're most
likely to find free parking at the Sea-Tac hotels.
Here is a listing of the reported Priceline Hotels:
Seattle Downtown: 4* - Westin Hotel,
Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Hotel Monaco, Hotel Vintage Park, Alexis Hotel, Grand Hyatt, W Hotel
(note that this hotel has not been reported in quite awhile, and it is believed
the W chain no longer participates in Priceline) 3* - Renaissance Madison
Hotel, Crowne Plaza, West Coast Vance Hotel, Seattle Marriott Waterfront,
Marqueen, Red Lion, Edgewater Hotel, Holiday Inn 2.5* - Summerfield Suites,
Best Western Executive Inn
Sea-Tac (Seattle) Airport: 3* -
Doubletree Hotel Seattle Airport, Hilton Seattle Airport, Radisson Hotel, Seatac
Marriott, SeaTac Hawthorne Suites, Red Lion Sea-Tac Hotel, Wyndham Seattle
Tacoma Airport
2.5* - Red Lion Seattle South at Boeing Field, Holiday Inn
2* - LaQuinta Seattle Sea-Tac
On Hotwire, many of the hotels have also been identified.
For Seattle, Hotwire splits up the Downtown area into two zones - Downtown
- Pike Place and Downtown Seattle Center - Space Needle. Pike Place may be
more convenient for cruisers, but Seattle Center is still popular.
In the Downtown - Pike Place zone, 7 hotels have
been identified.
There is a 5* property - the Grand
Hyatt. Showing only the Restaurant and Fitness Center icon, it's
not a firm identification, but 5* properties are rare, so this is fairly
reliable.
The 4.5* Hotel Monaco frequently comes
up. The specific icon in the amenities list which can help you identify this property is the
"Boutique" icon, as long as there is no Spa listed. Full amenities list:
Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center.
Also at the 4.5* level is the Sheraton
Hotel and Towers. The amenities list for this property is
currently: Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center. Note that
this property has shown a pool icon in the past, so you may want to watch for
that as well.
Seattle is fortunate to have yet another 4.5* property in
the Alexis Hotel. Like the Hotel Monaco, this
property has a Boutique icon. However, you can identify this property by
looking for the Spa icon as well. Full amenities list: Boutique,
Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center, Spa
The 4* level boasts the Hilton
Seattle. This hotel has extremely generic icons, especially for
this quality level, with only Restaurant and Fitness Center reported.
Since these features would be highly unusual for a 4* property NOT to have, be
careful when selecting this property - it may not always be the Hilton, though
it is the only reported property thus far with this identification.
Two 3.5* properties can be identified. The Hotel
Vintage Park is distinctive with its Boutique and Restaurant icons, while
the Crowne Plaza Hotel Seattle often shows a
"Customer Favorite" designation along with its Restaurant, Fitness
Center, Hi-Speed Internet and Business Center icons.
There are 4 hotels which have been identified in the Seattle
Center - Space Needle zone on Hotwire.
The first 3* property which has been identified is the Marqueen
Hotel with Boutique, Restaurant and Spa icons.
Also in the area is the 3* Holiday
Inn Seattle Center. Identifying this property you'll want to look
for Restaurant, Fitness Center, Hi-Speed Internet icons.
Five hotels have been identified in the Seattle Airport zone.
The 3.5* Wyndham Seattle Tacoma Airport can be identified
by the Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center icons,
while the other 3.5* property, the Hilton Seattle Airport, has similar icons, with the addition of
Laundry Facilities: Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Laundry.
There are three 3* properties which are identified in this
zone. First up is the 3* Radisson with
Shuttle, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Hi-Speed Internet, Business Center
icons. Next is the 3* Doubletree Seattle Airport,
which shows Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Business Center and
Laundry icons. Finally, the Holiday Inn Seattle Sea-Tac
Airport can be identified by its Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness
Center icons.
